Get Involved — Volunteer!

When adults volunteer, all students benefit! There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved! Your help is needed! Complete the Volunteer Opportunities form and we will be in touch with you. 

Here are some of the many enjoyable activities and events you can volunteer for through Briarhill Middle School PTA. You can complete the Volunteer Opportunities Form or contact the chairperson listed below each description.

The Briarhill PTA Hospitality Committee provides an appreciation luncheon for the teachers and staff several times throughout the year, which includes a fun theme at each luncheon and a coordinating menu to go with that month’s theme. As a Hospitality committee volunteer, you will receive notification of our menu and the items that are needed for that luncheon. If available to help out that month, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for the item(s) that are needed for the luncheon – PARTICIPATION EVERY MONTH IS NOT REQUIRED, although appreciated if you are able to do so!  

The teachers and staff of Briarhill Middle School give so much of themselves to our children, so please show your appreciation by volunteering and participating in the Briarhill Hospitality Committee!! To help with Hospitality, sign up here or contact Kristy Pier.  

SOCIALS

Our Social Committees host socials for each grade throughout the year. Our 6th & 7th graders enjoy Fall & Spring socials. Our 8th graders will have a Spring Formal and a field trip to Main Event.  

BOOK FAIR

Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can influence the most. Briarhill PTA runs two Scholastic Book Fairs per school year - one in the fall and one in the spring. These book fairs provide our kids with a wonderful selection of fun, engaging, and affordable books kids want to read. TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION

Help coordinate activities and events for teacher appreciation week so we can let our teachers and staff at Briarhill know how much we appreciate them! To sign up, click here. For more information, contact Rene Shimmelman or Cana Snow.

B.I.G. DOGS

Similar to the Watch D.O.G.S. program at the elementary level, the B.I.G. Dogs ("Being Involved is Great") program provides male role models on campus, enhances school security, and reduces bullying. To participate, volunteers must:

• Be approved in advance by LISD to volunteer through VOLY, and
• Join the Briarhill PTA ($15/individual or $25/family), and
• Purchase a B.I.G. Dogs uniform t-shirt through the Briarhill PTA website

This new age-appropriate program for male volunteers top sign up in advance for a 1-hour time slot on a particular school day to greet students and walk around “on patrol” before school, during a specific lunch period (not when sitting with your student), or after school.  For more information, contact Jason or Andy.

GENERAL SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS

At times the school will ask for volunteers to help with class monitoring during facility meetings & receptions as well as for picture day, yearbooks, etc.  Sign up to be on our contact list when help is needed.
